Chandigarh had witnessed 0.0 degree celsius in two consecutive years

Minimum temperature in Chandigarh has touched zero degrees on two occasions – in 2007 and 2008 in the past 30 years but the city has not recorded sub-zero temperature as is the case with cities in Punjab and Haryana.

CHANDIGARH: Minimum temperature in Chandigarh has touched zero degrees on two occasions – in 2007 and 2008 in the past 30 years but the city has not recorded sub-zero temperature as is the case with cities in Punjab and Haryana.
Since the year 1982 in many cases the minimum temperature has been close to zero but in the two consecutive years it had gone zero and in both the cases it was the month of January.

On January 6, 2007 and on January 24, 2008 the temperature had gone to 0.0 degree celsius.
This year also the city was close to zero as on Monday the temperature recorded at the Airforce station was 0.8 degree celsius.
However on Tuesday the minimum temperature had risen and was recorded as 1.5 degree celsius but may be on the days to the come the temperature will plunge down to zero degree.
Resident of Zirakpur Paramjeet Singh said that it so cold outside that even if he has worn the heavy woolen clothes he is still shivering and if things continued like this then he fears that city will again witness the zero temperature. “I feel that soon there will be sub zero temperature in the city” said Tarun Jindal resident of sector 4
